In Turkey, tea is grown exclusively in the eastern Black Sea region. Tea gardens harvest four times a year. After a winter of snow cover, the plant returns to nature after about eight months with renewed energy and freshness. In spring, after a dormant period, the first tea plants begin to sprout in April. The first harvest of the year is harvested in May, when the tea is still tender. At this time of year, the soil is moist and the tea is full of energy.
